Wheelchair Basketball Classics

Last weekend I had the privilege of doing the score bench for the 2013 Wheelchair Basketball Classics. They were incredible! There were some incredible athletes there and it is such a fun environment. Everyone knows each other, they all have great sportsmanship and so much passion for the game! In summary...

I spent my weekend watching this:

(They were so fast!!! I did manage to capture a photo in which they weren't shooting past me!)

Filling out this:

And most importantly, being surrounded by one of my favourite things:

For anyone who has the time, I would highly recommend going along to an event like this, it's an amazing environment with some extremely talented people!

Color Run!

'The happiest 5km on the planet' - The Swisse Color Run! Held at the Helensvale Country Club (which I'd say will now be out of use for quite some time)!

Today was the first ever Color Run in Australia and we got the chance to be a part of it! The American footage of their Color Run was just too appealing to pass up attending this one. Excuse the quality of the photos, glad wrapped phones were definitely a necessity!

The best summary of the Color Run is that you start with a clean white t-shirt and end up covered in colour! Although a 'run' we chose to walk it, as did most, embracing the colour stations at each kilometer. Each station had a different colour theme and powder was thrown as you walked through. From a distance, there were massive puffs of colour coming from each station. When you're walking through it, all you can see is coloured haze!

The four station colours were yellow (which we came out of thinking 'maybe this won't be that messy'), blue (which made us realise it was definitely going to be very messy), orange (our favourite) and pink (not too colour staining). Orange was definitely the most appealing, so bright!

Things definitely got more colourful and crazy as we progressed! Our shirts went from white with speckles of colour to colourful with speckles of white!

At the end of the race everyone is given a powder pack to use as they wish - this is when it really got messy! The final powder was a lot brighter and thicker, and as we were throwing it at each other there were a lot more direct hits! Here is the final result.

All in all it was an awesome day, definitely worth the money to go (especially considering it was for charity)! So much colour and so much fun!

Cleaning zone was definitely welcomed as we farewelled the event!
